FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT TO WEAR?
For family sessions, try and coordinate as a group without matching too much. Plain or small patterns work best. Avoid logos or large patterns as they can be distracting. Stick to a few colours to work with and remember to wear what you feel comfortable in! For newborn sessions, again plain tops are great for the parents. The baby can be dressed in a favourite outfit, or just a nappy or even naked. It’s your choice. Feel free to add any props or accessories such as hats or special blankets. For maternity sessions, snug fitting clothes are best to show off your bump, but most of all make sure you feel comfortable in whatever you choose to wear.
CAN I HAVE MY PHOTO SESSION IN A SMALL APARTMENT?
Yes. I may need to move a few pieces of furniture around for the duration of the shoot, but I am able to work easily in a small space.
WHAT IF THE FORECAST IS BAD FOR OUR OUTDOOR PHOTO SESSION
We can either postpone the session or move the session indoors. If you have booked an outdoor session, I keep a close eye on the weather leading up to it and will be in touch if I think we need to go with Plan B.
HOW LONG ARE THE PHOTO SESSIONS?
For family photo sessions, I have 3 options. A 30min mini shoot, a one hour family and a two hour family. Please email: claire@highjumpphotography.com for more details and prices on these photo sessions. For maternity photo sessions, I have a 1 hour, or a two hour session available. Newborn sessions are a little different. I usually allow up to 3 hours to accommodate settling, feeding and nappy changing.
HOW DO WE CHOOSE OUR PHOTOS AFTER THE SESSION?
I will place your photos on a private gallery for you to view. From there you can choose your favourite photos. Once you have made your selection I will edit, colour correct and make small touch ups on request. You will receive your finished photos on a USB within 15 working days after you have notified me of your selection.
WHAT KINDS OF TOUCH-UPS ARE DONE ON THE PHOTOS?
Small touch-ups such as removing blemishes and pimples, softening wrinkles or lines around the eyes, mouth and forehead. Newborn baby acne, dark circles around the eyes etc. All of these touch-ups can be made on request. If you have a specific concern, please discuss it with me at your photo session and I can advise if there will be additional charges.
HOW CAN WE USE OUR PHOTOS?
You are welcome to share your photos with friends and family. Print as many photos as you wish – photos can be printed up to 24 inches without loss of quality. Sharing them on social media is also fine. A photo credit is appreciated if possible. Photos may NOT be manipulated, used commercially, or in publications without permission. Highjump Photography may use photos for marketing purposes including this website. Please advise me in advance if you would prefer not to have any of your photos used.
HOW LONG DO YOU KEEP OUR PHOTOS ON FILE?
Your finished photos will be kept on file for 6 months from the time of your photo session. Once you receive your USB, it is recommended to make a back up of your photos on a computer or external harddrive. If for some reason you lose your photos, a new copy of the USB can be provided for a fee of $300 HKD.
WHAT ELSE SHOULD WE CONSIDER?
Have an open mind about your photo session. It should be a fun experience. Don’t expect children to fully participate as it is often their first time meeting me. Have some toys on hand to distract and bring rewards (or bribes) just incase. This may sound cheesy, but check out your smile in the mirror before the photo session. Is it a genuine smile or does it need a bit of practice? If you have an extra pair of hands available (such as a domestic helper) who could come to the photo session, this is always a great idea. She can help with getting the kids attention and encouraging smiles.
HOW DO WE PAY FOR THE SESSION?
I will send you an offer of service once you have made your booking. I usually ask for 50% deposit to secure your time and date of the session. The remaining balance needs to be paid on the day of the photo session. Payment can be made either by cheque, cash or bank transfer.
